our dear friends, the spremiches, came to visit for a day before heading to the dominican republic. we went to dunkin' donuts and the boys frolicked on the capital lawn.

went down to charlottesville with hana yesterday. what a fun place. ziggy got to ride on a motorcycle. it belongs to james' brother rob. ziggy still thinks he's 30. he'd rather hang out and do adult stuff than go to the playground and run around with other kids.

tot time

i just discovered that the falls church community center has a free indoor tot time every fridays. why didn't i find this sooner like during the winter months? ziggy had fun and he was obsessed with this mini soccer ball.

here are some things i want to decorate our new home with. i have everything except the sofa, paint and the two bird lights so far. yes that is a mirrored side table you see, i found it at a local thrift store. i've also ordered myself a ghetto bidet.

says 'hold it' when he wants me to pick him up
loves having tea parties real or fake
refers to himself as ziggy
says 'waykuk' instead of wake-up
says 'i love you' while he's laying in bed in the morning with his eyes shut.

we're under contract! we had our inspection on saturday and it went really well. the appraisal is next, keep your fingers crossed for us, we're in love with this house and don't want to lose it. it needs a lot of work though (check out the hideous bathroom) but we're ready for the undertaking.

guess who had their birthdays on mother's day? hana (30) and karen (29). i love them and it was fun to celebrate on the same night.

you're the greatest mom. i love your wisdom and advice and that you're always there for me at the drop of a hat. i love your voice and your face and your wonderful laugh. i like when you tease ziggy and when you make those noodles. there's no one else like you in the whole world and i'm so proud that you're my momma. happy mother's day.

yesterday as niya and i were walking down carytown we noticed a mob of people lining up outside a trendy local clothing store. turns out this guy was there. i went to his website today and read his story, it's a pretty cool one. mark and i once had dreams like this. check out his story here.

went to visit the bryans in richmond today. silas is 3 months old already and filling out. he's adorable and such a good baby, it's hard not to be anything but good when you've got a momma like niya.

this is what mark and i thought our kids would look like before we had any. thank heavens it isn't so.

ziggy's soooo goth. he's got dark fingernails and he's drinking red rooibos tea. goth.

they'll return

guess who's finally coming back! ziggy and i will be the first ones to greet them since we'll be picking them up on friday at 4. it's been 4 long months and boy did we miss them! learn about their trip here.

on the farm

so ziggy's been going to the farm every week since his pre-preschool class is there. he loves looking at all the animals. it's so fun now that he can talk and say what animal he's looking at. i try to take photos of him with the animals but then i end up taking a million photos of ziggy instead.

these pipes are clean

look closey at this pipe. there's only about a cm of space between the gunk and the pipe. our contractor was so excited about it he had to come show me.

tire swing

john made this tire swing. the kids loved it until teagan let go of the rope and hit the floor backwards. it was 80 percent sad and 20 percent funny.

hotpot

faye is an excellent cook and she always treats us with authentic schezuan food which is very spicy. her cooking is better than any chinese restaurant i've ever been too. yesterday she treated us with a traditional hot pot which is similar to shabu-shabu but with a million more flavors and a spicy kick. The stock was made with a chinese pepper called ma-la which numbs your mouth a little. we took the beef and lamb and cooked it in the soup right before eating it. it was so delicious.

what a spectacle

we went to dc to watch a big bird show at the planetarium. as were were unloading, connie decided to throw her keys down the sewer and we realized we didn't have any change for the meters. i peeked in the manhole and could see her keys sitting on a pile of leaves. she tried to pick them out while i peeked in the manhole and gave her instructions on where to poke the umbrella, meanwhile the keys were getting buried in the leaves. faye came over with a car part and connie's dad managed to lift the manhole she used the umbrella to pick up the keys. then a meter man came past to collect money from the meter and he hooked us up with free parking! it was very exciting and the big bird show was a hit with the kids.
