yay or nay

i keep flip flopping in my mind. another baby? yes? no? not now since i'm currently a nomad but later like in 2 or 3 years? i am fine with only having one kid and i wasn't one to enjoy being pregnant. but i think about how much i love my siblings and how lonely he may be without them. gah! what to dooooo?

cloth diaper review

i promised a review so here it is

3 thirsties diaper covers ($35 from ebay incl. shipping)
24 unbleached indian prefolds ($47 from sew crafty baby.com incl. shipping)
1 bumgenius all in one ($18)
1 roll of kushies flushable biodegradable diaper liners ($10)
phosphate free laundry detergent ($8)

would i recommend these to a friend:
yes to the thirsties diaper covers+prefolds. no to the bumgenius and kushies liners

pros:
won't fill up landfills
cheaper
easier to change (i can do it while z's standing up)
laundering doesn't require harsh chemicals like i originally thought
no more walking by trashcans filled with old barfy smelling diapers
poop just plops off into the toilet and can be flushed
ziggy seems fine, no rashes or complaints from him

cons:
really bulky
have to launder these every 2-3 days or else you'll smell pee
bulky to carry around in your purse and you need a plastic bag to hold the dirty prefold
have to change these more often (around every 2 hours)

overall i'm happy i switched and i wish that i had done it sooner. i heard the hemp liners are less bulky while absorbing well but they also cost more.

happy father's day!

happy father's day markiepoo! it's been fun to see the bond you guys have built in the past 15 months. baths, nilla wafers, pillow forts and wagon rides what else could a boy ask for? happy father's day to a great poppa!

farewell mr. forlenzo

i am so sad you're no longer here. i have so many fond memories of going to your house after school and listening to all your glorious old records, frank sinatra or tex ridder's 'blood on my saddle' while sipping on orange soda. or how you teased shana and called me 'blondie' during my rebellious teenage years. no more stories of your giant family and 11 siblings and stories of an era when baby boys wore dresses. i am so sad that i will not hear you play harmonica and witness the magic you brought to this world. i can see your old cobalt datsun from my window. my great neighbor for the past 27 years, i will miss you forever.

canning cherries

grandma teare taught us how to can cherries today. it wasn't as hard as i thought it might be but it did take some time. we put them in light syrup and they turned out delicious! now we can eat cherries in the middle of december if we want to. thank you grandma teare!

washing machine

grandma kim comes up with some creative ways to play with zbones. this one is called washing machine. i like most of the things she does for ziggy except for when she traps a poor bug in a jar for him. there's a firefly in a jar upstairs right now.

june = eat at home

this month we're supposed to be trying not to eat out. it's painful! i think 78% of my life's joy comes from eating at restaurants. mark's doing really well but me...well not so much. look at these pictures, these are all pictures of me eating at restaurants and i really look happy and like i'm enjoying life.
