happy new year!

with maya who is sadly moving to king's farm this month.

year in a recap

what a year 2011! didn't accomplish my goal of traveling to new zealand or getting a job. instead i got knocked up, went to yosemite and los angeles, got a gig illustrating a book. mark got game of the year and has begun delving into the world of legos, he's is also quite the handyman, he figured out how to get the water running from the basement to the new fridge. ziggy started preschool and tae-kwon-do and has become an expert on star wars, legos and now venturing into the world of harry potter. next year i'll have another baby, we'll be a family of 4. goals next year: figure out how to close gigi's for realz!!

shanas bday

bbq meat platter on a garbage pail lid, 6 sauces, caramel chocolate mousse cake from balduchi's, handmade jewelry, friends from england and house of harlow.

christmas

2012 christmas. he got to open one gift on new years eve. we had the most relaxed plans, got to see the whole family and there were lots of cool presents for ziggy! he woke us up at 5:00am singing 'taco bell, taco bell, tacos all the way' and was so excited to see if santa came. his favorite present besides lots of star wars legos was the custom helmet lego set that mark ordered for him.

illustrating

i have 4 months before the baby comes out to finish illustrating a children's book called the 'panty princess'. it's a really cute story and i'm hoping i can make this book magical with my drawings. i'm glad i have this gig so that i can feel a sense of accomplishment before i delve back into the world of infanthood.

baby room

i'm making our guest room the baby room. i ordered this lamp, it's exactly what i had in mind (except i wish it were black, not chrome) and i found it on super sale! I made the curtains with a blackout liner so that the sun won't wake up baby #2 in the mornings. the cat prints are from before i knew it would be a boy but kittens are universally cute, not just for girls right? i made mark paint the wall, it's called carolina parakeet. the guest room will be where our tool/craft room is much to mark's grumbling and dismay (teehee). the tool room will now be on our back patio. hey, i'm nesting.

lights

we took mark's grandma to see the lights at the temple. i think she enjoyed it!

sister's potluck

our first annual sister's potluck was so much fun! i love my sisters more than anything. everyone came and made a dish and bonded in a sisterly way. hana, dona and shana mean first, second and third sister in korean but we've always had forth, fifth and sixth sisters in our lives. jeany who we've known since the womb was here from baltimore and hatnim (my friends from middle school) and soo-jin were here from london and chicago. i felt like i finally graduated into ajuma-hood (elderly lady). next year i hope more sisters can attend (you guys: mom, karen, niya and natasha and bring andrew )! you don't need anything else but sisters and good food.

cookies

we've been baking lots of cookies, especially mark's favorite, molasses crinkles. ziggy likes to mix the dry ingredients. he says that sometimes his preschool teacher puts flour in the class sensory table.

happy birthday great grandma sadie

mark's grandmother is in town for her remarkable 89th birthday! we helped her celebrate last night with peruvian chicken, cake and lots of great-grandkids. happy birthday!

zigman updates

ziggy's said some things that have made my heart melt like wax. i sold an old toy of his, a wooden activity cube and he got so upset! i told him that we needed to make some space and get rid of big things. he said "get it back! it's for my baby!" while hugging my belly. the next day we went and chose a toy for the baby together. he chose a sleep sheep.
he also told me that i was beautiful, dad was cool and he was cute. when dad asked who was the most beautiful he said "grandma"

oh boy

and it's another boy for us. mark's happy to have another lego pal and i'm excited to meet this little guy and ziggy is just over the moon. based on the ultrasound, seems like he will have my lips :)

game of the year

congrats to everyone who has worked so hard on skyrim (especially my poo #1)! this is us at the launch party in l.a. it's won the game of the year in a year when so many awesome games have come out.

markiepoo's blog

mark started a blog! yippie! ziggy and mark have been obsessed with legos. his blog has photos of some of ziggy's creations like our family portrait above and other lego likes. check it out here.

roof

ziggy climbed the ladder onto the roof. we have a bird family nesting in our gutter and didn't have the heart to remove it. maybe this spring we'll gently move it out.
