i asked him to smile and this is what i get. he isn't into playgrounds this spring. he'd rather walk around and look at old buildings with me. can he have any more of an old soul?!

miss american pie

shana had an itch to make apple pie and so she came over and made this one. it's probably the best apple pie i've ever had! our suggestions, cook it about 20 minutes longer and wait til it's cooled before eating it.

ziggy is in love with the song 'i wanna be sedated' except he sings "i wanna see the bunny." which makes it even cuter!

domestic violence

domestic violence is disturbing. Mark heard a woman scream for help on our street at 3am. We brought her in and called the cops. She said her husband was going to kill her. The woman is younger than me and is from Russia with no contacts other than her husbands mother around the corner. I can't get her story out of my head. the argument started over his missing cell phone. she said that her husband told her to write a list of everything of his she had lost, then take off her watch and that next he was going to kill her. he said you don't believe me? i'm a man of my word.

new york!

went to new york on a whim and boy was it fun! we stayed in williamsburg with breanne, she has a 2 bedroom which is right next to the J train and over two dueling reggaeton night clubs. even though we didn't get much sleep we had a lovely time. we were able to see central park, times square, the east village and williamsburg. we ate at northern spy where our friend brittanny sous chefs and they hooked us up with seriously a 8 course meal. another highlight of our trip was seeing breanne's store. she owns horizons, a vintage clothing shop.

instead of taking advantage of our night away from ziggy, we set up this shelf for him instead. we also did other boring chores like steam cleaning our new sectional, mulching and cleaning the house.

got a new sectional off craigslist. it's a west elm modular looking one and it was a total steal! we're picking up the next 2 pieces saturday.
