big boy status

29

i turned 29 today and it felt great. mark got me such a great present, a 400 page book of the 1st year of this blog, amazing! i also got to have a playdate with my favorite momma friends and their kids and karen who took the day off because of a kidney stone. then my sisters took me on a shopping spree, macy's then my favorite thrift store. ziggy is pretty much potty trained and he even pooped in the potty today, that's probably the best gift he could give me. i ended it with a fab-o dinner at lauriol plaza with mark and now a bath. i love being 29.

shana

shana's been the glue holding our family together. she was my mom's main support after dad passed. she worked at the store until mom got her feet back on the ground. she trooped through some shitty jobs. she survived over a year and a half of my toddler's screaming, she's been understanding of my grumpy moods from home drama (and yes i was unbearably grumpy at times). she's lived for a while without walking around in underwear. now that we've moved, i'm done giving you space. come over and hang out with us pronto!

gigi's

i took ziggy to my mom's wig shop and he charmed a customer with a hi-five and a wave, my mom got a $20 tip! he's employee of the month in my book.

potty

he's interested. he's been hanging out sans diaper for a few days now and tells me when he has to pee. he loves his video game undies. a few accidents but overall i'm excited!

moving

moving tomorrow to this address.

donkey

i tried donkey meat the other day. it just happened to be there and so i tried it. i didn't hate it but i didn't like it either.

only child

i read this article in a copy of time that hana picked up for me. i was pretty much set on having one kid until i read about the kid having to deal with his parent's death alone. :( but i don't really want my uterus to die again.

happy birthday

james is 33. glad we could share chocolate cake and pho with you today.

moving on saturday

we're moving on saturday. happy and sad.

indigo landing

mom's been spoiling us with 'birthday dinners'. last saturday she treated us to fancy food and wine at indigo landing restaurant. if you're in the area and don't mind spending a little extra on dinner, i would recommend it.

loose ends

spent the day with mark and ziggy tying up loose ends at the house. our bro-in-law, nick was awesome enough to hook us up with a free lawn mower and trimmer from his own shop. the lawn mower pretty much pushes itself, amazing. ziggy learned how to climb up and down a ladder and he discovered the mail slot in the door when the mailman dropped mail in. new obsession! we worked until 11pm and decided to stop after ziggy had a meltdown. poor little guy. we hope to move in next weekend.

happy 4th of july

we went to a local high school to watch some fireworks in action. ziggy got to dance on stage with the funkadelic band that was playing. ziggy chose the black cat that was painted on his face. he really enjoyed the firework display. when we got home he asked to go straight to bed. he was asleep by 11pm. happy 4th of july!

lulu mccoy

more fireworks the night before the 4th. we had pop-its, lulu mccoy, killer bees, picolos, rainbow eruption, whistling dixies and smoke bombs. ziggy cried for more even after we finished all that we had.

sparklers and lanterns

now that he's two he loves fireworks. uncle james being the safety patrol that he is, would cover ziggy's eyes to prevent sparks flying in them and blinding him. afterwards, ziggy would hold the sparkler with one hand, then cover his eyes with his other hand. cautious mc-cautiuouson! the giant red thing is a lantern that hana brought back from the china. she said they lit hundreds of them in the night and released them out in the open on the lunar new year. where's mark? he's missing all the fun because he's been working really hard on the house :( we missed him. p.s. does shana look hot or what?
